Review by Renee Hodge Tour Manager for ‘Stone Empire’
“If you had to guess you might think Lissy’s dad was a rock god and her mum a fairy princess. This woman oozes soft, sexy sensuality in her look that is perfectly presented with both leather and lace. Her wistful, whimsical keyboard melodies bring back memories of sesame street tunes that jolt you right in your inner child. Her breathy, delicate vocals float through the room caressing the inmost part of your vulnerabilities, soothing the soul as only a mother can. But don’t be fooled, Lissy has a stainless steel core. This powerhouse of heart and soul isnt afraid to feel the fullness of life and share its effect on her with openness and honesty. She can hurl a guttural, grungy line through the air in one second and then peer into the crowd with a piercing gaze from under a sultry veil of sandy blonde hair the next, which will leave you totally disarmed. Prepare to have a range of emotions stirred by this womans persona and performance… if you can! “

“Banora artist Lissy Stanton to get jazzy at Duranbah” Daily News
Emma Galliott 8th Jan 2013 6:00 AM
THERE is no excuse not to head out to Cafe D’Bar to see Lissy Stanton perform on Sunday.
The Banora Point artist has been producing her own original tracks for 10 years and loves being a full-time musician.
Stanton is classically trained in jazz on the piano.
“But I don’t write in traditional jazz,” she said. “Someone recently described my music as electrified folk with jazz, pop and rock influences.”
And she’s not lying.
Last year she was nominated in five different categories at the Musical Song Writers awards.
Her latest album The Lissy Stanton Band was released last year and by the end of 2013 she’s hoping to have another record out.
She’s also planning to head to Canada this year to play in festivals over there.
“Canada’s always appealed to me musically,” Stanton said.
“Sarah McLachlan runs a festival there predominantly for woman. Go the girls.”
To check her out in an intimate performance head to Cafe D’Bar at 4pm on Sunday.
‘Miss Liss Brings it Home’
The Lissy Stanton Band featuring Tweed Local and Singer-Songwriter and Multi-instrumentalist Lissy Stanton has “a new way of charming her listeners and keeping their butts on their seats and it doesn’t involve bribing them with money” as quoted by Scene Magazine February 2011.
The Lissy Stanton Band is a sassy, intriguing and charming mix of stage piano, tin whistle, double bass and percussion/drums. Lissy (vocals, stage piano, tin whistle) pens beautifully crafted lyrics, soulful melodies and is backed superbly by Kimon Peters (percussion, drums) and Justin Pfeiffer (double bass). An engaging conversationalist and unapologetically 100% original, Lissy’s performances have warmth, energy and a huge injection of personality as audiences are warmly invited to share these very special shows.
With a nomination for Australian Of The Year in 2010 for her contribution to the music industry already under her belt, Lissy’s original song Special Feeling has been picked up by Producers 272 Records in Los Angeles for inclusion in their CD compilation Album, Acoustika No 23, released in the USA. The album has major distribution through American College and mainstream radio stations. Special Feeling was recorded and produced by legendary Rose Tattoo bass player Geordie Leach in his Padded Cell Studios in Bilambil.
With multiple award nominations in The North Coast Entertainment Industry (NCEIA) Dolphin Awards, The National MusicOz Awards and being a featured artist in the Australian Music Magazine (AMMA) catching a show of Lissy and the boys is a must.
The Lissy Stanton Band has received support from local Gold Coast radio station 94.1 being a featured artist for February 2011. Brian Elliot, Jazz and Blues host who interviewed Lissy was at her last gig and commented “ when you see Lissy live you are in for an awesome show, no one song is the same and you are on the edge of your seat anticipating what will come next”.
Come and see The Lissy Stanton Band in March at The Loft. Chevron Island Thursday 31st March 8pm and in Coolangatta at The Patch Lounge Friday 1st April 8pm.
